I was thinking today ' Whats the biggest fashion event that happens each year?' I thought of London Fashion Week? New York Fashion Week? Graduate Fashion Week? Cannes Festivals? Karl Lagerfelds birthday party? Then I thought - FESTIVALS. For an event that started of music based with people sleeping in tatty tents, drinking none stop beer, 'forgetting' to shower for a weekend and wearing old shorts and vests, it seems the biggest festival splurge was a pair of green hunters and some Ray Bans. Gradualy over the years though ive noticed high street stores catering for the festival season, though I dont blame them as I think there more popular then a girls holiday to Shagaluf. The amount of straw trilbys I see bobbing around Glastonbury is unbeleivable, as I sit and watch from channel 4 that is. Now though, through a bit of noseing around a few magazines and websites, top end designers are joining in, and Im not talking a floral maxi dress here and a a pair of denim hotpants there, Im talking full on festival love. The D&G S/S runway show was basicaly a festival, all you needed was RadioHead and Eminem (for some reason?) playing there. Stella McCartney has her fruity printed fabrics up and down the stage and Fendi made room for the boheimian dress's and detailing. As beautifull as it all is, £1100 for a dress to get covered in burn holes and sick is pushing it slightly. And as much as this might sound like a rant, im secretly loving every minuit of this look!
